Vampire
[edit]Does anybody know which one of the species in Madagascar, Fort Dauphin 1990, could have bitten me 'like a vampire'? I am not sure he was after my blood, it bit right through a blanket and before I could pull him off he left two little wounds in my throat, about half a centimeter apart. Those wounds didn't cure for weeks. Everywhere it says that real vampire bats are South American, but this one in Madagascar certainly had vampire tendencies. Any comments? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.83.167.122 (talk) 17:02, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not aware of any bats except the Desmodontinae (which, as you say, are only in the Americas) that are known to feed on blood, but you never know. Do you have any more information on what the bat was like? (Size, color, what the tail was like...) Ucucha (talk) 22:17, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately not, it was in a chalet without windows and definitely it came and went flying. I didn't wait for its return and left for another pensionroom that had windows. Thanks anyway. 84.83.167.122 (talk) 21:03, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- I can't blame you for that. Interesting story. Ucucha (talk) 21:13, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
