Aromatic herbs? Which kind of edge was it originally?

Most of the photos that are in the article in the moment do not show aromatic or culinary herbs but plants chosen for colour or no plants other than buxus at all. So, is the definition wrong, or have the wrong pictures been chosen, or does the definition refer to what they WERE in the past and not what they ARE - and does the later sentence about "viewing from above" fit in if it was about herbs and not about colours? (It can, somewhat, but the whole thing is pretty unclear in the moment...)
