Kosi river

[edit]

This article which was enlarged by me has been substantially mutilated and the revised version does not even accept the contribution of the earlier authors in the history column. External references have been missed (numbers are very much there but there are no refereces or are not shown). There is no continuity of references. Also, one of the pictures which I have uploaded on Kosi's shifting courses does not open eventhough the title of the photo is displayed in red colour. What has happened? Can some one tell me what is happening? And where is the disambaguated article enlarged by me? There is not even mention of my contribution eventhoguh substantial part of my artcle (90% of it) has been utilised.--Nvvchar (talk) 18:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POV check on "2008 flood in Bihar" section

[edit]

The "2008 flood in Bihar" section contains blatant accusations, in the form of statements followed by immediate contradictions to those statements, that make it appear as though a page author is using this page as a soapbox for their side in a dispute. I have marked the section for a POV check. —Preceding unsigned comment added by John Darrow (talkcontribs) 04:46, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with your view. The section on "2008 Floods in Bihar" should be deleted from this section and the linked new article on "2008 Indian Floods" also needs editing to wiki standards. However, a few lines at the end of the previous section " Floods of Koshi River - The Sorrow of Bihar" should be added stating that "The 'Curse of Kosi' has made a repeat act of a catastrophic and devastating impact, during the floods of August 2008, on about 2 million people of the region by shifting its river course to an old channel. The devastation is reported to be of immense proportions and the catastrophe has been declared a national disaster and rescue and relief operations have been rushed to the affected area".--Nvvchar (talk) 05:13, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prime Minister reacts to NYT reporting?

[edit]

New York Times reported that it was the worst flood in the area in 50 years, which prompted the Prime Minister of India to declare it a “national calamity” on August 28. I read this to mean that the Indian Prime Minister reacted to New York Times reporting on the subject. Surely the prime minister would have called this a national disaster without the NYT story. This sounds like pretty dubious causation. Hughdbrown (talk) 20:34, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Indo-Nepal border" or "Indo-Nepalese border" ?

[edit]

I'm curious whether the article's grammar —relating to the names of countries— need be corrected. Instead of "Indo-Nepal", perhaps the noun modifier would be either "India/Nepal" or "Indo-Nepalese."

What do you think? Pine (talk) 14:22, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
