Excessively detailed content in the lead

[edit]

@Ronns, the content you've added to the lead section of the article is too detailed and is causing the section to be too long and disjointed. This content should be moved to the history section. Some of it may even be too detailed for that and should be put in the History of Kenya article. Contrary to your edit summary, I did not "vandalise" the article when I removed it (kindly refrain from making such accusations in future), I changed it back to the previous lead which was a better summary and overview of the entire article. As it stands, the lead currently does not conform to the standard that other country articles have. I believe it should be changed back to the long-standing version. Outdated map

[edit]

In the Geography section, the map is outdated because what says "Sudan" on the map is now "South Sudan", as South Sudan gained its independence from Sudan. Nephellium (talk) 19:18, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Factual Inaccuracy - Roshan Ali?

[edit]

An image of a Kenyan field hockey player named Roshan Ali appears in the "Culture of Kenya" subsection. However, from a cursory search I've found no reference to him besides this page here and an identical mention of him in the Sport of Kenya article, which shows the same image as in the Kenya Wikipedia article. In the Sport in Kenya article, there are some citations included with the paragraph on Kenyan field hockey, but the links are dead, and the Wayback Machine on the Internet Archive seems to have only "dead" pages or unrelated content in Japanese suggesting domain name parking (although I did not check every instance of an archived page).

With all this said, should such a reference to Roshan Ali still be included in the Wikipedia article? I don't want to hastily remove content because of present inadequate citation or suggest vandalism without evidence, but it appears to not meet Wikipedia's standards. Can anyone else provide feedback? 73.169.71.205 (talk) 20:54, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per the image description, they were only a goalkeeper a couple of times, so the lack of sources is understandable. I would agree it is probably not an image that should be on this page, although I've added it to Kenya men's national field hockey team. CMD (talk) 07:40, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
