Name

[edit]

He is Herbert Quick at LC Online Catalog, apparently so credited in books he created (LCCN n86-013847, see "Found in" notes). Where is he known as John Herbert Quick? --P64 (talk) 20:37, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I requested the article to be moved, this is a record of why: Currently, Herbert Quick points to John Herbert Quick. I do have a souce that confirms that is is real name, but all the sources call him "Herbert Quick" and that is the name his books were published under. Someone else on the talk page mentioned it, and after doing a review, it really seems that Herber Quick should be the main article as the "common name" of the subject and how people would search for the article. If we had other subjects with the same name, "Hebert Quick (author)" would still seem like the appropriate name for the article. The existing Herbert Quick entry's only history is creating a redirect, so deleting and moving this one seems most appropriate for maintaining the history. Possible Sources

[edit]

I can't find archives of the original news articles used to write this page, it seems they asked to have the archive copies removed, so I did some searching to find other sources. John Herbert Quick does seem to be his full name, as confirmed by the first dissertation on this list, but he may have been better known by "Herbert Quick", at least when writing. "One Man's Life" looks like an autobiography.
