Images of Saragossa

[edit]

Hello! Can you, please, help with my desperate need to get images of former Jewish quarter (Spanish: call) in Saragossa usable in Wiki? I need it for ru:Крескас, Хасдай = es:Hasdai Crescas. Great thanks! Answer on my English talk page, pleasse --Леви Китросский / Продолжить разговор у Леви 10:45, 26 января 2011 (UTC)

Catalan pronunciation doesn't fully match the name

[edit]

The Catalan pronunciation is for Hasdai ben Judah Crescas, and not Hasdai ben Abraham Crescas. The latter was the grandson of the former. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.151.63 (talk) 00:30, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Spanish" talmudist?

[edit]

Classifying Crescas as a "Spanish" philosopher and talmudist is anachronistic. During his lifetime, there was no "Spain" (which from a legal point of view did not exist before 1714), but only the Principality of Catalonia (where Crescas was born) and the Kingdom of Aragón (where he died). His mother tongue was Judaeo-Catalan and he never even learned Spanish/Castilian. 37.14.28.255 (talk) 21:22, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Great Hallel prayer"

[edit]

When Crescas refers to the Great Hallel (Hebrew: Hallel ha-Gadol) he isn't referring to the Hallel prayer as linked. He's referring to Psalm 136, which is rabbinically referred to as the Great Hallel. The linked Hallel, psalm 113-118, is the Egyptian Hallel, recited on festivals. The original Hebrew doesn't include the word "prayer" because the Hallel ha-Gadol isn't a prayer, it's a psalm. Posting this here instead of editing the original page because I'm not exactly sure how to link it. If "great Hallel prayer" is from a translation being quoted, then maybe a footnote? But if it's a translation done by editors, and the word "prayer" isn't included in the original text, then it should be changed to "Great Hallel" with a link to psalm 136.
