Is this a fan page?

[edit]

Is this article a fan page of a factual biography of an athlete? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.191.104.68 (talk) 05:20, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Honours and statistical achievements

[edit]

This section has become far too cluttered with trivial information. Alot of his statistical achievements, such as leading the league in disposals etc should be written into the main body of the article, during that particular season. The honours section should really only be left for major achievements and accolades (I would strongly argue that being in Mike Sheahan's opinionated list of top 50 players is not one of these).

I've also expanded his statistics section, to hopefully make it abit more readable. I've followed the same format as the Joel Selwood article, which splits his season totals and season averages into separate tables. Boomtish (talk) 08:46, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the cluttered sections. But I've reinstated the one table that incorporates both totals and averages. This way is easier to refer to linked statistics, and would make moew sense to a person that is not as familiar with Astralian rules football. Thanks for your contributions and thoughts, it is muchly appreciated. - Allied45 (talk) 09:34, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

General clean-up

[edit]

I've started performing a clean-up on the article, which had become cluttered with too many trivial information. I know I've cut down on alot of the information that was previously there, but my hope is that it can ready for a good article nomination soon. This will mean that only the most relevant information is inside the article, and expressed in a succint manner with good prose. Boomtish (talk) 17:15, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good job. I've just done some minor fixes, I'm not sure if it was you or someone else but Ablett did not win the 2008 Australian Football Media Association Player of the Year award, and the 2009 AFL Coaches' Association Champion Player of the Year has not been awarded yet (it's awarded tonight) so he cannot of won this award either. The 2008 AFMA winner is hard to track and it's under the impression that it was not awarded in 2008, but other than that you've done an excellent job, you should be proud (the new pics are a great addition). Allied45 (talk) 01:14, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the missing year with the AFMA award, but found this link that seems to suggest he won it back then - http://www.entertainoz.com.au/Speakers/Sport/Football/Gary-Ablett-Jnr--Geelong-Football-Club. Boomtish (talk) 07:07, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but I would question the reliability of that source, and only because in the official AFL Record from last week's preliminary final it lists Ablett as only winning the 2007 award. This is also the case from other records thoughout the season. Thanks, Allied45 (talk) 10:50, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He has now won the 2009 AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award :) – Allied45 (talk) 08:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Ablett's Picture

[edit]

Shouldn't Garry's picture (one in the top right corner of the page) be changed to one of him at Gold Coast, as the picture of him at Geelong does not reflect his current status, and is therefore misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.3.180.58 (talk) 11:48, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
