Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. As a bit of a side note, Jafeluv and In ictu oculi are correct that nominators do not need to make a vote and generally should not. Jenks24 (talk) 12:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

– The town of Freiberg should be the primary article, not the disambiguation page, because it is a major town with its own university and cathedral and is famous as the centre of mining in the Ore Mountain for centuries. Freiberg (district) and Freiberg subcamp were both named after Freiberg. Other places mentioned in the dab page are not even redirects, they are German exonyms of articles with totally different names. The people mentioned have compound names which do not clash with "Freiberg". Bermicourt (talk) 07:46, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My experience is that they do. And there is no harm in them doing so, especially when the self-identify as the nominator. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:37, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need for the nominator to add "support" or "oppose" after their own rationale. Move discussions are not votes, it's the argument that counts. Bolded "support"/"oppose" votes can just be ignored unless accompanied with a policy-based argument. Jafeluv (talk) 10:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

History

[edit]

Even the German page is somewhat inconclusive but Freiberg was subject to two unsuccessful Swedish sieges in the Thirty Years' War, a short one in March 1639 with 6.000 soldiers under Johan Banér & Lennart Torstensson and a longer one in December 1642-Februar 1643 after the Battle of Breitenfeld (1642). The defenders led by Georg Hermann von Schweinitz (see German Wiki) were only 300 strong. It was the only triumph of Saxons against Sweden as they were routed in everey single open battle.
