Photo older than the internet

[edit]

The photo of her is so old that it predates the internet. We must be able to find a more recent photo than that. Ikjbagl (talk) 04:00, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Death date

[edit]

Several different sources are saying that she either died Tuesday night or Wednesday which is today.

Which is the correct day? MikaelaArsenault (talk) 22:31, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm tallying up the sources and as it stand the vast majority are going with Wednesday. In this People Magazine source, they state her manager confirmed to People themselves that it was Wednesday. Deadline, which earlier reported it was Tuesday subsequently referred to Wednesday (or "today" in the context of when they reported) in this article and this article. This happens when they die close to midnight and because USA has different time zones depending on which state they interpret "today" different depending on when they get the news. DrKilleMoff (talk) 09:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In the Died part of the infobox on her article, can someone add January 26/27? MikaelaArsenault (talk) 09:31, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I have added in a note, a la Olivia de Havilland that explains the situation. I included a source from People magazine that specifies that her manager confirmed to them it was Wednesday. Coupled with the New York Times citing Wednesday per her son, this should be case closed. Rusted AutoParts 23:13, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite closed, i am afraid... Someone has changed the death date back to January 26 and the note is currently utterly incomprehensible:

”On January 26, 2021, Leachman died in her sleep from natural causes, at her home in Encinitas, California at the age of 94. Leachman's manager, Juliet Green, confirmed that she had died on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. However, some sources cited a death date of January 26.”

Does anyone understand that? This whole affair is giving me a headache...217.213.71.33 (talk) 11:01, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It’s because someone changed the date to the 26th and didn’t bother to alter the second sentence of the note. It was the 27th, as per her manager telling People Magazine and her son telling the New York Times. Rusted AutoParts 15:03, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Photo date clarification

[edit]

Regarding the photo in the infobox, labeled as "in July 1970"-- Based on info on photo file info page, it seems the back of the photo was dated July 1970. I read that as meaning that the photo was distributed by CBS in July 1970. However, the fact that the photo was used in July 1970, does not mean it was taken in 1970, at which point she was 44. I suspect one of three possibilities:

  • The photo was airbrushed to make her look younger
  • She wore a lot of makeup to look younger
  • She was using a photo from a few years earlier as her headshot/promo.

I tend to think the third possibility is more likely. (fourth possibility: she really did look that young at 44) Question; If we're not sure when the photo was actually taken, is there a suitable way to reword the caption so it does not imply it was taken in 1970?

Cloris Leachman in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

[edit]

You may want to include among her film credits that Cloris had a minor role in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, playing the role of Agnes (she is listed in the film credits) 108.50.135.89 (talk) 17:54, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's listed at List of Cloris Leachman performances. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 20:08, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
