Clarify

[edit]

I've tried improve the wording. Is that any better?7severn7 (talk) 09:23, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still not sure what you are trying to say about the collapsibility of a slender casting. The chaplet thing I got, though both statements need references. Wizard191 (talk) 14:07, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think, between us, we've got it now. Many thanks. 7severn7 (talk) 09:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't get what you are trying to say about the collapsibility of a slender casting. That's why I've left the clarify tag on it. Wizard191 (talk) 23:22, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What I'm trying to get across is the concept that the sand needs to be particularly collapsible if you are casting a slender item like a window frame. If the sand is too hard the frames sometimes snap as the iron contracts after freezing.7severn7 (talk) 07:46, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's the window frame example that's confusing me. Can you reword it in a more general way? I think that might make it more understandable. Wizard191 (talk) 16:28, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the window frame isn't the best example as most are likely to be mouldable without coring. A better way of explaining it might be to describe a large diameter tubular thin wall item.7severn7 (talk) 07:45, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
