Motor Trend promoted their Imgur account for a purposely-limited 22 hours nine days ago, so the 212mph top speed is a keep into the article. 2607:FB90:A753:50FB:0:1B:BC9B:AD01 (talk) 06:45, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, who cares? If an article has over 200 points, then it's probably OK to cite. 2607:FB90:A753:50FB:0:1B:BC9B:AD01 (talk) 06:46, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

U1Quattro Hello, although the edit you did with the infobox picture is good but I don't believe the ZL1 which is the performance version should be used in the main infobox. I know that it isn't part of guideline to always put the latest generation/facelift on the infobox picture but for this case I find it shows the highlight of the Camaro in it present form and the standard non-high performance/limited edition. Unlike the Audi R8 Decennium, the ZL1 is very distinctive to the normal Camaro when it comes to exterior. The ZL1 on the infobox could be used instead of the yellow one, since it at a odd angle and there many distracting elements in it. Also going to ask what other users think which picture is best to use on the main infobox.

The example that could be used on the main infobox: 2019 Camaro 2SS
Picture currently used on the infobox, although I believe it better to use it to replace the existing yellow Camaro ZL1 one
The current pictures used in the ZL1 section

Until an concensous is reached, the edit I made stays. Also, the SS is also a high performance variant of the Camaro so you have got things wrong here.U1 quattro TALK 18:59, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There are limited images available of the facelift Camaro on Commons. The one which was previously used was poorly executed so the photo involving a while Camaro SS was used in its place. U1 quattro TALK 19:08, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • The white car has a reasonably good angle, moderate reflections, and while the background is very poor the car being white helps that a lot. The photo of the red one is taken from too low of a perspective and has very distracting reflections. The angle of the yellow car is quite poor.

All that being said, I think the white car should be in the infobox and the red one should be used to illustrate the ZL1. An image should not be used in both the infobox and the text.

Looking through the category on Commons, the only other adequate one in my opinion is File:Chevrolet Camaro 2.0 Turbo.jpg, but between that and the white one I'd call them about even. --Sable232 (talk) 22:23, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I also vote for white Camaro photo with SS-trim. More representative of a regular car.YBSOne (talk) 15:03, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ybsone the Camaro SS is not a regular Camaro. I see lack of knowledge in that comment. U1 quattro TALK 14:42, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think it safe to say, that the white one should be used for the infobox and the red one to be used for the ZL1 section. Although I'm not sure when and after a consensus has been reach and the proposed edit can be done. --Vauxford (talk) 22:57, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Both Vauxford and Ybsone have mistaken the SS for a standard Camaro while it's not according to general motors. If you're into adding base model images in the infobox. The blue Camaro is a base and the "standard" Camaro. U1 quattro TALK 02:26, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Other sources that confirm that the 1LT and 2LT are the base models and the standard versions of the Camaro and proving that the SS is NOT a representative of what the Camaro looks like in general.

There are also other better images of the ZL1 available on commons such as this one

Which can be used in the ZL1 section. U1 quattro TALK 02:50, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is a 2019 SS. According to general motorsYBSOne (talk) 09:45, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your quote: "SS is NOT a representative of what the Camaro looks like in general" and yet You try to force 4th trim, ZL1, as more representative of a regular Camaro? Illogical. YBSOne (talk) 09:58, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where I have forced that? I actually put a photo of the base 4 Cylinder Camaro on the infobox before it was reverted by Vauxford. So you fail to put the blame on me this time Ybsone. The link you posted just proves my point more. Research more about the Camaro "Journalist". U1 quattro TALK 10:23, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No it doesn't. You said we are mistaken that the white car is a SS, but on the Chevrolet website in Models, same car is under SS. Can You see it? Also see the SS badges on the front fender, spelling S S in red. YBSOne (talk) 10:25, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will quote you here "I also vote for white Camaro photo with SS-trim. More representative of a regular car." Sorry, but the SS is NOT a representative of what a Camaro looks like in general. It has subtle differences. U1 quattro TALK 10:27, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The white car IS a SS. Proof? Just see the badge placement and the SS aerodynamic elements. U1 quattro TALK 10:28, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also "More representative of a regular car" is not the same as "is a regular car" SS is 3rd trim, ZL1 is 4th trim, therefore 3rd is more representative of a regular car. I stand by my statement "Editor". YBSOne (talk) 10:29, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but the SS is not a representative of the standard Camaro so you're wrong there "historian". U1 quattro TALK 10:33, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

And you're trying to actually prove in the last comment that I mistook an SS for a regular Camaro. Proof? This statement: "You said we are mistaken that the white car is a SS." I wasn't doing that at all. U1 quattro TALK 10:35, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image

[edit]

How about this picture for the info box, it is my image and I own the rights, it is a 2020 Camaro SS (the 2019 that is currently there is a 1 off year, it was the only year with the black piece on the front bumper), the 2020 represents the style from 2020-2024 model year. Since no one else seems to be chiming in I'll give my opinion. I don't see the need for an image change. The current image works just fine to depict the Camaro and we don't need a professional quality image for it. It also doesn't fit the infobox very well due to it being a portrait style image and would need to be cropped. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 19:46, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The example that could be used on the main infobox: 2020 Camaro 2SS
This is not an acceptable image. The lighting is very poor, with the front of the car in shadow and the roof washed out by the sun. It's also in motion, which is generally not workable for an image in an encyclopedia. Further, the image is a possible copyright violation as the original source (GM, an auto magazine, or wherever it was originally published) is not provided. --Sable232 (talk) 03:08, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a copyvio as the VRT team has confirmed that the uploader is the copyright owner. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 16:14, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
