[edit]

As a relative of Charlie's, I took a few moments to remove the "frequently drunk" comment, as well as the "drunk" statement made in regard to returning to the air in one of the paragraphs. If this characteristic is important to note, we respectfully prefer that it be re-written that he "frequently drank" (which, according to my family, he did).

I tried to make these changes a few times (no vandalism intended), but they kept getting reverted back to the original posted article.

Thank you.

You want me to rewrite direct quotes from respected authorities such as a former Boeing corporate historian? I'm sure lots of relatives of other notable people would also like things swept under the rug or phrased more pleasingly, but that would make for a poor encyclopedia, and Wikipedia is WP:NOTCENSORED. You should also read WP:Conflict of interest. Clarityfiend (talk) 21:55, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies - I was not attempting to sweep anything "under the rug". I'm not contesting that he drank - but I can not access the references that were listed, and as a family member felt inclined to do some minor edits. . . but apparently, editing is not allowed. The reference link is coming up as "server not found": http://www.centennialofflight.gov/essay/Explorers_Record_Setters_and_Daredevils/Early_US_shows/EX4G3.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.71.94 (talk) 06:04, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
