Cover Image

[edit]

There should be inserted an image about the cover of the game in the table which describes many different aspects of Centipede, such as developer, publisher, genre, etc; it would be great if someone could upload an image of the cover of the game and insert it in this table.

I wil soon upload an image of the cover of the game to put in the infobox. --TomasBat (Talk) 12:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Screen Shots

[edit]

We need to upload and insert images about the game, such as screen shots; now, I do not really know how to upload images and would be very gratefull if someone who knows how would do so.

Motivation for the WP:CVG assessment

[edit]

As an assessment was specifically requested on the assessment page, I will motivate my assessment briefly:

Stub-class:

  • Many small stub sections make a stub article.
  • Article itself has stub categories.
  • No external links for further reading make it difficult to read further.
  • It has the information expected from a stub (a short list of facts) but nothing more.

Low-importance:

  • No influence on genre.
  • No large community at present.
  • For Computer and Video Games, this is low importance. FPS or Atari related WikiProjects might find this article more important.

2nd VG Assessment

[edit]

Requested again, assessed again. Still a stub. Here's some more tips for improving the article:

Look, here's how it is. The article how it stands is a series of 1 or 2 sentence sections, followed by a big completely unnecessary table. There is not a part of the article that does not need to be completely rewritten. Here's some ideas- first off, the lead needs to not assume that the reader knows what Centipede is, much less that they have played the 1980's Centipede. You need to start off the article with a paragraph describing what the game is. (note- when I say paragraphs, I mean 4-6 sentences) Follow it up with a "Gameplay" section, which will describe how the game works. Don't divide it into subsections that are less than one "paragraph". This section should include the "campaign" and "arcade" distinctions, though it should not be the first thing it says. Next! The table- cut it. It is just not useful. Think about it- who, upon reading an article about a game, and who is trying to learn about what the game is, needs to know/cares about the fact that the spider is worth 900 points when it's far away but 300 points when it's closer? Answer- no one. Get rid of the table entirely. Merge the pictures/gamplat diffs between 1998 and 1980s versions into the "gameplay section, though put the images up on the sides, not in a text breaking table. Finally, try to create a reception section, with what reviewers said about it. It'll be pretty hard for this game, but try anyways. After that, try to find references, and cite them with ref tags.

Please go to WP:VG and scroll to the bottom. Check out the "GA"s and "FA"s. Those are what this article should look like. --PresN 16:10, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PlayStation / Dreamcast versions

[edit]

Isn't this the same version as the Hasbro/Atari PS1 and DC versions released at the same time? Should the article be renamed ...(1998 video game) with PS1 and DC added to the platfroms/categories? (The little sections on the main Centipede article should also be combined). Retro junkie 21:30, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for all the suggestions. The changes that you requested have been made. TomasBat 00:26, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B class

Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Assessment - Low B class. Could do with more referencing though. Giggy Talk 02:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Centipede 1998 Scorpion.jpg

[edit]

Image:Centipede 1998 Scorpion.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Graphicly Busted

[edit]

Well, first off, even though I actually consider this game to be Centipede "kicking and screaming" into 3-D gaming, I think the Hasbro, Atari, and Leaping Lizard staff need to be shot. I mean, take a look. Even though they made the bugs look quite scary, they gave the game the most geekiest of protagonists! And who is this "Queen Pede"?70.5.40.51 (talk) 23:46, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Zack M.[reply]

Music Hack-in Trick!

[edit]

Dudes, can anyone explain why the music players of today mistake the PC CD for the "Plup Fiction" album, alowing you to listen to game's BGM's?!173.112.192.241 (talk) 19:32, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Zack M.[reply]
