Note on added content

[edit]

I have added a note to the article regarding Powell's death. I have no 'official' source for this information, but Powell was a friend of my family and died whilst staying at a family house. Anyone doing a search on the internet may find that the Britannica Online, for example, states Powell's place of death to be Milan; this is, in a word, incorrect. I just thought I would place this note here in case anyone thought to change it - the details I have added are correct. LSmok3 02:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion

[edit]
I spent today making a major expansion to the page, seeing as it had been left alone for some time without any major work, and has been classed as high importance. My contributions are mostly biographical in nature, and then taken from very few sources, although I have tried to clarify Powell's work too as best I can (not being a physicist) as I felt, particularly looking at other sites, that it didn't provide much detail, didn't cover Powell's work clearly, and didn't really explain its import. Hopefully it's somewhat imrpoved now. The person who started the page and left only the Nature entry as ref. was an unsigned user. I've tried to keep it in the refs (having introduced citation templates) but can't vouch for it's content. Basically, the article could still use some more expansion and clarification regarding Powell's work from someone technically qualified to provide it and with access to the appropriate works. . . Perhaps a uni student with access to a well-stocked library? Any Wiki-contributors active in physics on Wikipedia might try shopping around. . .
I also got rid of the See also sec. since the links are already present in the text (ie. due to overlinking).
The last entry is a problem, because although it is true (I provided it some time back) it is essentially uncitable. One solution might be to have the place of death as just 'Italy' which would then agree with any sources (assuming there are any). I also plan to scan and upload a photo I have of memorial bench and plaque, which will effectively justify that claim. I've left it as is for now. LSmok3 (talk) 20:18, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
