See also?

[edit]

From Annotated article:

"See also" is the standard heading for related Wikipedia articles not already linked elsewhere in the article.

"BBC One" and "BBC Two" are in the article body, and so is "BBC Wales". "BBC Scotland" is mentioned in the article but not linked. "Drama" and "Broadcasting"... could probably be linked in the article, but I suppose you could argue they might be clearer in the see also section, if they are particularly relevant. - Motor (talk) 11:46:36, 2005-08-21 (UTC)

I've now linked BBC Scotland in the article and removed the redundant links from the "See also" section. Angmering 13:44, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sunday afternoon serials

[edit]

I didn't see the peer review request, so I hope it's not too late to add a comment. Something I remember from the seventies is the Sunday afternoon/evening BBC serials, and I didn't see mention of them here. Very much costume and "all the family can watch" adventures. A fantastic adaptation of The Eagle of the Ninth, Hawkmoor (about Twm Sion Cati), The Children of the New Forest, a Sexton Blake (Sexton Blake and the Demon God), John Buchan's Huntingtower.. I'm sure they were all in the late afternoon/early evening slot? Am I wrong to think that they were something of an institution in the seventies? Or was it just in our house? :) Telsa 17:48, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wiping the archives

[edit]

Should there be some mention of the (now discontinued) policy of wiping the archives, which means that early episodes of a lot of shows, such as Doctor Who, no longer exist? OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 08:57, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FA?

[edit]

No offence to anyone, but is this really still up to FA standards? The modern section is weak and lacking references, especially considering how much easier they should be to find. Some of the writing is overly colloquial and ambiguous. The older stuff is great though, I just think the lead and the modern section need work. Thoughts? 81.96.160.6 (talk) 06:54, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, it isn't. This was an article I worked on about three or four years ago now, and while it met the FA standards of the time, things have moved on. I do mean to go through and try and bring it up to standard at some point, but I am not sure when I shall have time to do so. Angmering (talk) 09:14, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When Did BBC Drama go Color??? Comment

[edit]

The editor states that "Sherlock Holmes", broadcast in 1968, was one of the first BBC dramas broadcast in color. This refutes the BBC Documentary "Tales of Television Center". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbmSVE-abUQ According to "The English Rose" of BBC Drama, Susan Hampshire, she starred in the last BandW BBC drama, the "Forsyte Saga" in 1967 as well as starring in the network's first color television drama, "Vanity Fair" in 1971. Which is correct, as both can't be???User:JCHeverly 03:02, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sherlock Holmes is simply "one off the first", not the very first, which was indeed Vanity Fair. However, it wasn't as late as 1971, as BBC2 started a full colour service in 1967, and BBC1 in 1969. Angmering (talk) 08:49, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
