Blazon in question

[edit]

From the french translation it would be appear there is a small error with the image of the arms for Alloue. The blazon reads:

  • "De sable à deux chevrons d'or, accompagnés en chef de deux macles d'or, rempli d'azur."

From this "de deux macles d'or" it seems that the lozenges should be or, not azure, and the fimbriated edge "rempli d'azur" should be azure. I used the Chrome translator for english but, I am still not sure. --Xavier (talk) 00:47, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well actually "rempli d'azur" means filled with blue Checking with other sources however indicates that the arms are correct and in fact the blazon on French Wikipedia is inconsistent. On http://jm.ouvrard.pagesperso-orange.fr/html/alloue.htm the french blazon says
"De sable à deux chevrons d'or l'un sur l'autre, accompagnés en chef de deux macles d'or, l'intérieur des macles d'azur.
which is also a correct description but is different to Wikipedia and illustrations on other sites all show Azure as the main colour. I agree with you that it is a rather strange way to describe the lozenges as I think they are blue with gold borders rather than gold with blue infill and this is how I described them.

@Samrong01: Thank you that clears things up. I will keep this in mind. Well, on to the next arms to fix! --Xavier (talk) 03:39, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction

[edit]

The Intoduction here states (and has stated since 2009!) that Alloue was part of the province of Limousin and that Its inhabitants speak the Occitan form of the Limousin dialect. In fact Alloue was in the historic province of Poitou, not Limousin (as it clearly says in the History section): Also, Limousin is a dialect of Occitan, not the other way round, and they speak the Marchois form of Occitan here, according to the Dialect section. So I’ve taken both statements out. Anyway, as the Intro is supposed to summarize the article as a whole, I’m not sure they were the most significant points to highlight. I trust everyone is OK with that. Moonraker12 (talk) 19:23, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
