Accident blackspots and other improvements

[edit]

The road is generally considered to have several accident blackspots. There are signs on the road stating something like "1500 casualties in 5 years" (I'll check next time I head out that way)

The article could really do with some additions about this, and the improvements underway. Also any criticisms maybe? The fact that for an A road there are several places where the carriageway is reduced to one way traffic. I'm not really knowledgeable about the area to be able to do it Audigex (talk) 23:44, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a small safety section to the page with some citiations. As you can see I have also included the number of accidents on the road as suggested above. --Footix2 (talk) 13:19, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Primary Destinations

[edit]

The road does not actually go through/to Workington or Barrow, so why are these listed as primary destinations? Kayedj (talk) 12:25, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those destinations are listed on road signs along the whole length of the road, so should be considered primary destinations.

I'd also mention that the road does lead to Barrow, but with Barrow being on the end of a peninsular, the road joins with the A590 for a short stretch (<5miles) on the run into town. Otherwise the road would have to be considered as ending in countryside between Askam and Dalton. Barrow is the final route on the A595, and is signposted for virtually its entire length. 194.80.32.9 (talk) 11:52, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
