Big Three

[edit]

I've removed the reference to the "Big Three" from the lead paragraph. I understand the point it was trying to make (i.e. that at the start of 2004, Williams, McLaren and Ferrari were considered as the three major teams (the "Big Three"), and that Ferrari dominated whereas McLaren and Williams had poor seasons), but I think it's a potential source of confusion to people who don't know that. When they read "... poor performance of the "Big Three" competitors Williams and McLaren", they might think "Huh? What do they mean "Big Three"? - that's only two!" Or if they do understand that Williams and McLaren are two of the "Big Three", they might wonder who the third is (I don't think it's completely obvious that it's Ferrari). We've tried a few different wordings over time, but none have really been completely satisfactory. DH85868993 03:45, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ricardo Zonta

[edit]

Please check 2009 IndyCar Series season drivers table. We could use what's been done with Will Power to avoid this ugly "16/17" Ricardo Zonta's number. I'm sorry but I don't know how to do it! Can someone? Fsarmony (talk) 14:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See the 2010 Formula One season drivers table. PCH17 (talk) 09:15, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

F1 results

[edit]

The following F1 results need changing in according to the official website (www.formula1.com):

  • Gianmuria Bruni at the Australian GP is shown as retired. He also finished the French GP in 18th.
  • Takuma Sato did finish the Malaysian GP in 15th place, as well as finishing the San Marino GP in 16th.
  • Giancarlo Fisichella finished the US GP in 9th.
  • Ricardo Zonta finished the Belgian GP in 10th.

Also, with the constructors championship, it won't except results that have not finished and been classified as they completed over 90% of the race. PCH17 (talk) 09:37, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is your introduction to the Formula 1 official website not being particularly accurate at times. Bruni was fifteen laps down in Australia and was not classified as a finisher. Sato blew his engine up in Malaysia and at San Marino and parked it and did not finish. Fisichella's car died eight laps short in the US with mechanical failure and Zonta lost his engine at Spa with a lap or two to go. --Falcadore (talk) 14:52, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Season report

[edit]

The season report section was far less comprehensive than the one in the Hungarian version of this article. So I translated it by hand and interspersed some additional information from the new, English-language sources I cited (this section was previously unsourced). I broke the new season report into four subsections and added five images that were also in the Hungarian article. F8of (talk) 20:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

58th season?

[edit]

The article states that the 2004 championship was the 58th season of F1 motor racing, but the previous year's article states that was the 56th. Neither article offers an explanation of the missing 57th season. If this is an error, the season numbering should be redone, and if it's correct, the previous season link should be changed to link to the actual previous season. Does anyone know which it is? JorenMel (talk) 08:14, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JorenMel: It's an error in 2003 Formula One World Championship - it should say "57th" instead of "58th" (2001 Formula One World Championship says "55th", 2002 Formula One World Championship says "56th", this article says "58th", 2005 Formula One World Championship says "59th" and 2006 Formula One World Championship says 60th). I've updated 2003 Formula One World Championship accordingly. Thanks for pointing out the error. DH85868993 (talk) 09:28, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
