- Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 → Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Redirects for "Country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest Year" articles are not made if the country did not participate that year. This is because the existence of these redirects affects the infoboxes of the country's participation in other years. Take Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 for example. If the 2015 redirect didn't exist, the infobox wouldn't provide a link to the supposed 2015 participation that never happened. — Tuxipεdia(talk) 21:17, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Delete: I only made the redirect because at the time Sweden had confirmed participation, they later withdrew afterwards. No need for it now. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 21:39, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

- Paul Donovan (film) → Paul Donovan (writer) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Confusing and implausible disambiguator, not useful to maintain as a redirect. "Film" is for things that are films, not things that are people who make films; he already has a redirect from the more appropriate disambiguator "filmmaker" as well, so this isn't necessary. The article wasn't started at this title, which instead results from somebody trying to move the "filmmaker" version of the title to this on the obviously incorrect grounds that "filmmaker" isn't a word, so there's no GFDL-based reason to keep it for attribution of the original edits. Bearcat (talk) 18:25, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. I agree that this redirect gives the impression that there is a film titled "Paul Donovan." Also, it looks like this only received minimal traffic in the 90 days prior to this nomination. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 16:23, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

- Spähpanzer Ru 251 → Kanonenjagdpanzer (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Delete This was the subject of an article deletion (discussion) and the target does not discuss the thing, because there are no sources other than a gaming site— at least, nothing we found usable. There was an actual Spähpanzer SP I.C. which is somewhat like the description that this redirect overwrites, but again it isn't clear that they were thought by anyone to be the same thing in the real world. Mangoe (talk) 16:38, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Delete closest I could find was a suggestion that a vehicle with that name was designed as variant of the Kannonejadgpanzer - hence the redirect when article was recreated - but that turned into a fools errand to find a reliable enough source. Is there a way to keep an eye on a non-existent article name to be aware if article is recreated? GraemeLeggett (talk) 18:41, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- If you leave it on your watchlist it will show up there if it is recreated. Mangoe (talk) 23:01, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

- Delete or redirect to Jewish left. While Reform Judaism is sometimes called Progressive Judaism, to my ears "Jewish progressivism" evokes political progressivism among Jews, not Progressive Judaism. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:29, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

- Comment are they the same organization? Rashtriya Hindu Sena seems to be led by Pramod Muthalik [1] [2] [3] and so does Sri Ram Sena [4] . Whether or not it's really a parent organization of Sri Ram Sena would require further research. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 03:57, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

- Virginia shootings → Virginia Tech shooting (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This redirect is vague, the Virginia Tech shooting isn't the only notable Virginia shooting. I found some examples in Category:Murder in Virginia. A few states do have a list, such as List of shootings in Colorado, but I was unable to find one for Virginia. -- Tavix (talk) 21:24, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- Disambiguation page and move - The 2017 Congressional baseball shooting has a significant claim to being an alternative target of this redirect. Add New_River_Community_College#Shooting_incident and First Battle of Saltville, and a see also to List_of_massacres_in_the_United_States. Virginia is now catching up to other US states in blockbuster shootings, so move the list to List of Virginia shootings. - Richard Cavell (talk) 09:42, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

- Delete or retarget to a content category, the category being something such as Category:Deaths by firearm in Virginia. Why mention First Saltville but not Second, or any other battles for that matter? Most land battles in the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War were fought here (plus some battles in the American Revolution), and "Virginia shooting" would cover any of those, with the possible exception of the occasional sabres-only cavalry battle. Delete implausible redirects. 78.95.69.28 (talk) 05:22, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Delete most. In all cases, the redirects combine Latin letters with Arabic diacritics (either kasra, fatḥah or kasratan). These are all likely typos and very improbable as such. Ultimately, all these redirects should be deleted. However, for the time being I think the following should be kept as recent {{R from move}}'s: ِAt-Turtushi (article at this title from 2013 until 2017), ِAlRay AlAam (between 2015 and 2016), and possibly َAnbaralum (article at this title between 2009 and 2011). The rest should be deleted as they have been the pre-move titles of articles for only a couple of weeks (ِDariush Farziaei back in 2015) or hours (the rest). – Uanfala 08:55, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Suggestion from WP:RFPP (see Rolling Archive when applicable), redirect to United States per WP:NCPLACE. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 01:01, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Comment. Murica is currently a redirect to Murcia as a {{R from misspelling}} per multiple WP:RFD discussions with similar results (3 discussions to be exact: see Talk:Murica for the list of discussions.) Steel1943 (talk) 02:55, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Question Does the apostrophe at the beginning cause technical problems? I vaguely remember some earlier redirect noms that started with apostrophes and were deleted because they screwed up searching or something like that. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:14, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Doesn't seem to be causing any problems for me. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 03:16, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Oiyarbepsy: See Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 November 20#Several redirects that have wiki markup in their titles. In a nutshell, you are probably thinking of consecutive apostrophes since they unintentionally cause wiki markup. Steel1943 (talk) 04:18, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, Steel1943, looks like this isn't the same problem. I'd say retarget like all the others. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 05:19, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Comment should it go to List of U.S. nicknames with
{{R from slang}}
and{{R from non-neutral name}}
? [5]. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:45, 18 July 2017 (UTC) - Support retarget; it's the term one often uses when portraying simple but patriotic 'muricans. The apostrophe is important because it signifies the omission of the "A", and as noted above, one of them by itself won't cause markup problems. Nyttend (talk) 00:10, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to List of U.S. nicknames, which can be expanded with info about the usage of the term. The term is too specific and apparently loaded with connotations to be redirected to United States. – Uanfala 20:57, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
- Keep. The current target is where someone can get the most information about the nickname. -- Tavix (talk) 20:08, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Comment: South Park makes no mention of the nickname at all. I ran a Google search for it and it turned up nothing. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 20:11, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- That's an easy fix, it has been removed. -- Tavix (talk) 20:17, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- The one-line entry at wiktionary can easily be copied (and expanded upon) to List of U.S. nicknames, which currently only has a mention of the term. Redirects should be targeted to wiktionary only if there doesn't exist relevant content on wikipedia. – Uanfala 12:32, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- I agree with you on when to target to Wiktionary, but it's hard to imagine what's currently at List of U.S. nicknames being considered "content". -- Tavix (talk) 14:15, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
