[edit]- 1831 – The John Bull is constructed by Robert Stephenson and Company in England.
- 1871 – The canton of Basel-Country grants a concession for the construction of a narrow gauge railway from Liestal to Waldenburg and eventually further to Langenbruck.
- 1899 – Canadian Pacific Railway inaugurates the Imperial Limited passenger train between Montreal, Quebec, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
- 1899 – Canadian Pacific Railway opens its line through Crowsnest Pass to connect to Kootenay Landing, British Columbia.[1]
20th century
[edit]- 1936 – The first City of Denver passenger train makes its debut running from Chicago, Illinois, to Denver, Colorado, on the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad.
- 1949 – Grenelle station on Paris Métro Line 6 is renamed Bir-Hakeim to commemorate the 1942 Battle of Bir Hakeim.
- 1955 – The Disneyland Railroad in Anaheim, California, makes its first run as an attraction at the Disneyland theme park.
- 1961 – Taiwan Railway Administration begins using diesel locomotives to pull the Kuan Kuang Express.[2]
