Sven Roosen (born 27 July 2001) is a Dutch decathlete.[1]
Career
[edit]In 2021, he finished second at the European U23 Championship in the decathlon, scoring over 8000 points for the first time.[2][3]
He became Dutch national champion in the decathlon in Apeldoorn in June 2022,[4] and finished in tenth place at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich, his debut senior major competition.[5]
In 2023, he finished third at the European U23 Athletics Championships in the decathlon.[6][7]
He scored a personal best mark of 8511 finishing as runner-up at the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis in May 2024, achieving the qualifying standard for the 2024 Paris Olympics.[8] There he achieved fourth place in a new national record of 8607 points.[9][10]
Personal life
[edit]He is from Eindhoven.[11] His uncle Marcel Dost participated in the 1996 Olympic Decathlon in Atlanta.[12]
