Nyagua Ruea is a South Sudanese fashion model. She has appeared on the cover of British Vogue.[2]
Early life
[edit]Ruea was born and raised in Kenya due to the Second Sudanese Civil War. Around the ages of 9 and 10, she decided she wanted to become a model one day.[3]
Career
[edit]Ruea was discovered by a local agency called Beth Models.[3] Her first ever cover appearance was for British Vogue photographed by Rafael Pavarotti, featuring all African models including Anok Yai, Adut Akech, Maty Fall Diba, and Akon Changkou.[3][2] Ruea has walked the runway for Saint Laurent, Moschino, Valentino, Mugler, Schiaparelli, Hermès, Balmain, Givenchy, and Chloé.[4] She also walked in the Vogue World fashion show with an ensemble cast of both models and celebrities.[4] In addition to Vogue,[5] she has appeared in W,[6] and in campaigns for Alexander McQueen.[7]
