NCAA Season 98 was the 2022–23 athletic year of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in the Philippines. It was hosted by Emilio Aguinaldo College[1] and was opened on September 10, 2022.[2]
Background
[edit]At the closing proceedings of NCAA Season 97, the then-Season Policy Board President from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde turned over the NCAA Flag to the next host.[3] Season 98 opened at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 10, with the rest of the elimination round of the seniors' basketball tournament once again returning at Filoil EcoOil Centre.[4][5]
After two seasons, events such as men's and women's volleyball, track and field, swimming, and beach volleyball events returned at the senior's division.[6] For juniors, the competition was composed of online taekwondo, online chess, and boys' basketball.[5]
Basketball
[edit]The seniors' basketball tournament began on September 10, 2022.[4] The juniors' tournament, the first since 2019, started on February 1, 2023.[7]

[edit]The NCAA seniors' volleyball tournaments started on February 18, and ended on April 16, 2023. The San Andres Sports Complex in Manila hosted the elimination round, while the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan hosted the playoffs.

Swimming
[edit]The San Beda Red Lions and Red Lionesses won their respective swimming championships held at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Pool, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Manila. The Benilde Blazers and Letran Knights finished second and third, respectively, in the men's tournament, while the Benilde Lady Blazers and EAC Lady Generals finished second and third, respectively, in the women's tournament.[11]

Track and field
[edit]The JRU Heavy Bombers won the track and field championship held from April 19 to 20, 2023, at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig. The Mapua Cardinals and Perpetual Altas finished second and third, respectively.[12]
