This list of museums in Missouri encompasses museums which are defined for this context as institutions (including non-profit organizations, government entities, and private businesses) that collect and care for objects of cultural, artistic, scientific, or historical interest and make their collections or related exhibits available for public viewing. Museums that exist only in cyberspace (i.e., virtual museums) are not included. Also included are non-profit and university art galleries.

Bootheel Youth Museum, Malden, MO Malden Dunklin Southeast Children's website The mission of the Bootheel Youth Museum is to foster an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and an insatiable curiosity about life. Three decades have passed from the “why not” through the “we can” to the “we will” and now “we are”. Incorporated in August 1991, the Bootheel Youth Museum was established in Malden, Missouri by a group of dedicated civic leaders, schoolteachers, administrators, and interested citizens in the Southeast Missouri area. What began as a conversation between three local women, soon evolved to include more than 250 volunteers, over 25 area businesses who continue to enable the museum to meet its goal and mission. The museum has grown from its original 50 hands-on exhibits housed in 10,000 square foot exhibit hall to 25,000 square feet with over 250 hands on displays and activities which includes the themed areas BYM Children Village, This Island Mars: A Space Adventure, Missouri Nature, Shadow Room, Bubble Room. Making Tracks on the Lewis and Clark Trail, Nano technology exhibition and Punky’s Lab. Nearly 80,000 children have enjoyed a variety of educational enriching programs. The Bootheel Youth Museum has had over 500,000 visitors in its history. This is quite a feat considering Malden is a rural community with a population of 4,415.e
