"Light Year (Practice)" is a song by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert as the second track from their fourth studio album Eternal Atake 2, released on November 1, 2024. The song was produced by Brandon Finessin and USKIDS. The song reached number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Composition and lyrics
[edit]"Light Year" is a high-tempo trap beat. where the central theme revolves around confidence in both personal success and identity, juxtaposed with a nod to the darker, more serious side of life.[1] Lil Uzi Vert gives many references to many fictional shows such as Jessie and Ed, Edd n Eddy and fictional character's such as Finn and Jake.[2][3]
Controversy and criticism
[edit]Following up to the release before Eternal Atake 2, in August videos of woods in the stuido alongside Lil 88 inhaling air, doing Nitrous oxide began to surface online.[4][5] With Lil Uzi Vert on the song confirming they indeed was, rappping ("I'm fresh off the nitrous, ain't mess up a bit-it"). Woods would receive alot of backlash from both fans and critics do to them promoting it to they're young audience and last year on they're third studio Pink Tape releasing a song called rehab talking about there past drug addiction and there time in rehab, a week after the songs release, In an Instagram Story post, Uzi wrote, “Nomore bad stuff,” with emojis of a salute, a wind face emoji, and a balloon emoji–signaling.[6]
