Description

Olive Wharry was an active suffragette, a member of the Women’s Social and Political Union led by Emmeline and Christable Pankhurst. She was imprisoned in 1911, 1912, 1913 and 1914 for related offences and went on hunger strike for 32 days.

This delicate watercolour depicts thatched cottages in the village of Newton St Cyres, which is located between Crediton and Exeter.
