Reception

[edit]

Painter received mostly favorable reviews.[1][2][3][21] Reviewing the original Atari ST version, ST Format's Nick Peers felt it was a fun but very dated game and had nothing to keep the player coming back.[1] MyAtari's Graeme Hinchliffe praised its addictive, easy-to-learn gameplay and soundtrack, but criticized minor bugs and the lack of Memory Track support.[3] The Atari Times' David Sherwin felt that the game's minimalist visuals complemented its abstract theme and arcade-style gameplay, while praising the post-techno music and digitized voice samples.[2]
