Christopher Volante Hinchliff[2] (born 1993 or 1994) is a British Labour Party politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Hertfordshire since 2024.[3][4] Prior to becoming a politician, he worked for CPRE, The Countryside Charity.[5]
Life
[edit]Hinchliff was educated at The Howard of Effingham School in Surrey and King's College, Cambridge, where he read history and was a member of Cambridge University Labour Club.[6] Afterwards, he studied for an MSc in ecological economics at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2016.[6]
He was a Labour Party organiser before working for the charities Independent Age and CPRE.[6] From 2022 to 2024, he was a Labour and Co-operative Party councillor for the Royston Palace ward of the North Hertfordshire District Council, where he also held the position of Executive Member for Planning and Transport.[7][8] He resigned as councillor on 2 September 2024 after his election to Parliament.[9]
Hinchliff was elected as the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Hertfordshire at the 2024 general election.[10]
