1 Elizabeth, also known as Martin Place Metro North Tower, is a 174 m (571 feet) 40–story skyscraper in Sydney, Australia. Designed by Johnson Pilton Walker (JPW) with the vision of a "high volume transport interchange combined with premium grade commercial space, a diverse retail offering and a new urban civic space", JPW has integrated the new building with adjoining 50 Martin Place building (which was also revamped by JPW) as well as the new Martin Place Metro Station that sits under 1 Elizabeth.[1]

History

[edit]

Construction of the building, designed by the architecture firm Johnson Pilton Walker and built by Lendlease[2] for Macquarie Bank, began in 2020 and are to be completed in 2024.[3] At completion, the building will become Macquarie Group's new global headquarters, allowing the group's employees to be reunited in one single location for the first time in over 20 years.[4]
