The Lark was a surface-to-air, liquid-fueled rocket-propelled missile built by the Consolidated-Vultee Aircraft Corporation. Lark missles were launched from the decks of U.S. Navy ships and was assisted by solid fueled boosters. The Lark was also the first surface-to-air missile in the U.S. arsenal to intercept a moving air target. Lark missiles were 4 feet (1.2 m) wide, 1.5 feet (0.46 m) in diameter, with a wingspan of 6.25 feet (1.91 m) and weighed 1,200 pounds (540 kg).[1]
