  • curprev 22:4422:44, 20 November 2023 Watermess talk contribs m 7,993 bytes +160 Rose picture two was incorrectly identified as a dog rose, an easy mistake as it is by far the most common type of rose in the UK, but strongly distinguished by most species under the dog rose genus by the persistent sepals leftover from flowering on the end of the disc (seen only on the hairy dog rose) and by the sheer hairiness of the false fruit and pedicels, which is far more reminiscent of the downey and sweet-briar roses. Settled on sweet-briar, due to the curved, downward-pointing thorns. undo Tag: Visual edit
