Question

  • Wouldn't it better to change it into China Wikiportal? After all, even the current featured article is about a person living before the times of the PRC. Ausir 12:26, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm I see the intro paragraph says the PRC is the third biggest country in the world. That's only the case if you consider Taiwan. Now I'm not saying that's wrong.. but it's not how it's presented on the PRC page and I think they had good reasons not to do it there. If this were a "China" portal, I think this claim would be less controversial, but considering the ROC as part of the PRC? hmm TastyCakes 17:41, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi :) In the 'People's Republic of China topics' box there is a link to 'Education', but it doesn't link to Education in China, but to Education in general instead. Shouldn't this be fixed?

The Asia Portal has recently been created and seeks help from those who are interested. Thanks in advance, TBC??? ??? ??? 06:07, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV map of India

Hi! I've made a hi-res SVG map of India and have put it up as a featured picture candidate on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Blank map of India. I've tried to make the map as neutral as possible encompassing each country's claim and administration. If you have any comments on it please let me know on Image talk:India-locator-map-blank.svg. Thanks and regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:29, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello?

Is this portal being actively maintained? I think it needs a lot of work. Plus, I anticipate setting up two parallel sets of portals, PRC and ROC for Politics, Government, and Economy, and China and Taiwan for History, Geography, and People (we already have Hong Kong). For that I would need to shuffle some content around. Any objections? Ideogram 17:36, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have completed a first pass at a rewrite of this portal at Portal:People's Republic of China (new). For comparison, there is a Portal:China. See what you think. Ideogram 18:39, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since I didn't see any objections, I've gone ahead and swapped in the new version. Ideogram 19:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

consistency across portals

We should try to establish a consistent look-and-feel for all the China-related portals, Portal:China, Portal:Taiwan, Portal:Hong Kong, Portal:People's Republic of China, and Portal:Republic of China. I have created a Portal:People's Republic of China (new) consistent with Portal:China. Let's discuss this at Portal talk:China. Ideogram 18:45, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

People's Republic of China

I believe this term (PRC) is generally used only in reference to the Communist Party, or specific government actions. I've noticed wikipedia has the tendency to use it when referring to China as a nation. Perhaps this reflects a cold-war mentality of some older US-born editors.. Anyways, just my opinion on how to make this website appear more academically valid.

Yes, There is no necessity for the entrance of two ceramic ware clearly. -Jo

We can't forget about the Republic of China, which still exists today. So addressing China as PROC would suit the NPOV policy, although it is quite troublesome sometimes. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 05:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
