Abhimanam (Template:Lang-en) is a 1960 Telugu drama film, produced by Sundarlal Nahatha and T. Ashwadanarayana under the Sri Productions banner[2] and directed by C. S. Rao.[3] It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Savitri, Krishna Kumari in the lead roles[4] and music composed by Ghantasala.[5]
Plot
Venu (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) a graduate born in a poor family, his mother Lakshmi Kanthamma (Kannamba) brings him up facing so many difficulties. He falls in love with his classmate Radha (Savitri), daughter of a rich doctor (Chittoor V. Nagaiah). Venu tells his mother regarding their love and takes her to Radha's house for fixing the alliance where her father insults them very badly because of their financial status. Therefore, Radha leaves the house and marries Venu without her father's wish. Due to Radha is grown up in rich atmosphere, she is so arrogant & egoistic, who is not able to adjust in their poverty and she looks to Venu's family with a low profile. Moreover, Venu's sister Kamala (Krishna Kumari) always shows her dominance & derision on Radha just out of liberty which hurts Radha and her ego gets increased ten folds. Meanwhile, Venu gets a job as a bank officer, so, he leaves to the city where he meets his childhood friend O.S.Rao (Relangi) and he helps him to get a rental house in his adjacent portion. Now Venu decides to shift the family to the city but Radha does not allow to bring Lakshmi Kanthamma & Kamala with them, so, they stay back. In the city, Radha starts living a luxurious life because of which Venu could not send money to his mother. On the other side, the lenders' force Lakshmi Kanthamma to repay the amount and Radha not even allowed to reach the letters to Venu written by his mother. Ultimately, their house is occasioned by debtors and Lakshmi Kanthamma & Kamala comes to the city. Now the disputes & quarrels arise in the family, Radha starts insulting them and Venu gets fed up with it. Once Venu goes to a camp, at that time, Radha attributes theft to Kamala, so, they leave the house. On the way, Lakshmi Kanthamma met with an accident made by Kaasulu (Chalam), son of a rich miser Singaraju Lingaraju (K. V. S. Sharma). Kaasulu takes them to his house and gives them shelter without his father's wish. Parallelly, Kaasulu & Kamala falls in love.
After coming back Venu comes to know about the facts through O.S.Rao's wife Suguna (S. Varalakshmi), he immediately rushes in search of them and in the hurry he forgets about the bank money left in the house. Radha misuses that money for her false prestige. Venu fails to find whereabouts of his mother & sister and reaches home where he discovers Radha has spent the bank money for the personal use. Now Venu scolds & blames Radha for her deeds and he gets arrested. Radha goes to take her father's help but he denies her when Suguna arrives and makes him understand the value of love & affection, so, he moves to save Venu. At that moment, Lakshmi Kanthamma also gets information regarding the Venu's imprisonment when she tries to steal the money from Lingaraju's house which was noticed by Kaasulu, knowing her situation Kaasulu gives the money required to her. Lakshmi Kanthamma secretly keeps the money in Rao's house and tries to commit suicide when Police arrest her. Eventually, Lingaraju realizes the theft in his house, so, he takes Kamala to Police Station when Kaasulu arrives and admits he himself has given that money. At the same time, Rao makes Venu release, Radha too lands there along with her father and they come to Lakshmi Kanthamma is also in the station when everyone is united. At last, Lingaraju realizes his mistake, Lakshmi Kanthamma requests Venu to forgive Radha and he does so. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Kaasulu & Kamala.
