The 2028 United States Senate election in Ohio will be held on November 7, 2028, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of Ohio. Incumbent one-term Republican Senator JD Vance, who was elected in 2022, is eligible to seek a second term, but has not yet stated whether or not he will do so, although he has filed paperwork to run for re-election.[1] However, Vance has been nominated as his party's candidate for Vice President in the 2024 presidential election, meaning he will resign his Senate seat before his term expires if elected to the office.[2] If that happens, there will be a special election in 2026 for this seat.
The last time Democrats held this seat was in 1999.
