Usage notes
[edit]Prior to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in 1992, the People's Republic of China did not recognize the Republic of Korea. Hence, South Korea was referred to as 南朝鮮/南朝鲜 (Nán Cháoxiǎn) in Mainland China before 1992.
