[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘞𑘰𑘯𑘲 (thāḷī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀣𑀸𑀮𑀻 (thālī), from Sanskrit स्थाली (sthālī́, “earthen dish”), feminine of स्थाल (sthāla, “vessel, pot”), vṛddhi derivative of स्थल (sthala, “ground, land”).
