[edit]From Sogdian 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼰𐼸𐼳 (sycʾkh), 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼰𐼸𐼸 (sycʾkk, “sparrow”), diminutive of 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼷 (sycy, “sparrow”) (whence Proto-Turkic *seče (“sparrow”)), contaminated into جغنه (jağna, jağana), جغنک (jağanak), جغنگ (jağang), جغن (jağan), زغن (zağan, “kite”), from زاغ (zāğ, “rook”).[1]
