Borrowed from Bulgarian плоска (ploska) or Serbo-Croatian ploska, from Proto-Slavic *ploska (flat surface), *plosky (flat vessel), akin to or borrowed from Proto-Germanic *flaskǭ (flask). Cognate with Czech ploska (sole), Slovak ploska (sole); dialectal Russian пло́ска (plóska, type of flask), Ukrainian пло́ска (plóska, flat bottle).
