- (intransitive) to burn down (to burn completely, so that nothing remains)
- (intransitive, of food) to burn (to burn down to the bottom of the pan during cooking)
- (intransitive, chiefly as adverbial participle with van) to become broke (to run out of money; to become bankrupt)
- Le vagyok égve. ― I’m broke.
- (intransitive) to sunburn (to receive a sunburn)
- (intransitive, colloquial) to fall flat on one's face, to experience defeat
