[edit]Borrowed from East Slavic, from Old East Slavic дѣтиньць, дитиньць, дѣтиниць (dětinĭcĭ, ditinĭcĭ, dětinicĭ). By surface analysis, dziedzina + -iec. Compare Belarusian дзяцінец, дзядзінец (dzjacinjec, dzjadzinjec), Russian дети́нец (detínec), Ukrainian дити́нець (dytýnecʹ).
