Hi. My fix was something slightly different: the old definition said "to mislead someone or something so as to be unable to act", which suggests that the person causing the confusion cannot act, which is wrong. Compare "Bob opened the cupboard so as to be able to reach the ketchup" (Bob is the one who is able). Removing the "something" was just incidental. Regarding your point, I'd say that a dog is a "someone", not a "something", but I've worked around the whole issue by trimming down the definition. Hope that's okay.
