translation table

[edit]

This is confusing. In the translation table, one of the glosses is "region of activity". However these keywords could apply both to the sense "An area of activity..." and "The region in which...". Aaaah! ---> Tooironic 22:53, 30 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

While we're here, does anyone disagree that sense 8 is redundant to sense 6? Otherwise I'll kill it.
Also what is sense 7 on about? The sphere of a computer keyboard is in front of a screen? This, that and the other (talk) 01:36, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
@This, that and the other: The OED does have a sense along the lines of 7, with citations like "She is in her own sphere wherever there is grace, wherever there is enjoyment", "He was no sooner at Rome, than he found himself in his sphere" (but nothing later than 1832). It seems to be equivalent to in one's element, it could be reworded a bit. I agree with merging 6 and 8. —Al-Muqanna المقنع (talk) 09:26, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've added two definitions which, with the pre-existing "figurative" sense, may overlap too much. DCDuring (talk) 13:46, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
