We give metif as an alt form of metis, but Chambers 1908 distinguishes the two: "metif, the offspring of a white and a quadroon; metis, a half-breed of French and Indian parentage in Canada". Equinox ◑ 14:21, 13 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
