Aren't both contradictory?

Maybe it's a plural noun, from the Italian plural of literato, in turn form the Latin litteratus. It's also found as a mass noun, as is bourgeoisie (cf. intelligentsia and litterateur) --Backinstadiums (talk) 16:35, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
