[edit]From Spanish Osmeña, ultimately from Arabic عُثْمَان (ʕuṯmān) + -ia. It is apparently not recorded in the Catálogo Alfabético de Apellidos, where most Filipinos historically derived surnames from due to a decree in 1849 by Gov-Gen. Narciso Clavería.
