Etymology

From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-klawŋ (to guard; to tend cattle; to graze; to be at leisure), whence Tibetan སྐྱོང (skyong, to keep; to nurture), Burmese ကျောင်း (kyaung:, to look after, tend) (STEDT).
