Borrowed from Minangkabau lambung (stomach) and Javanese ꦭꦩ꧀ꦧꦸꦁ (lambung, side, flank), probably from Proto-Mon-Khmer *buŋ (belly), *buŋ, *uŋ (to swell, bulge). Compare to Old Javanese lambuṅ (side, flank).
