grús
Irish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]grús m (genitive singular grúis, nominative plural grúis)
Usage notes
[edit]Somewhat of a technical term. The usual word for ‘crane’ is corr, but since that word also means ‘heron’ and ‘stork’, the Latin word grūs was pressed into service as an unambiguous word for ‘crane’.
