Telesgop Event Horizon

Y twll du goranferthol tu fewn i gnewyllyn y galaeth hirgylchol goranferthol Messier 87 yng nghytser Virgo. Amcangyfrif fod ei fás yn biliynau o weithiau yn drymach na'r Haul^[1] Hwn oedd y twll du cynta i'w ddelweddu yn uniongyrchol gan Delesgôp Event Horizon (ryddhawyd y llun ar 10 Ebrill 2019).^[2]^[3]

Mae Telesgop Event Horizon yn delesgop arae fawr sy'n cynnwys rhwydwaith byd-eang o delesgopau radio. Nod y prosiect yw arsylwi ar yr amgylchedd dyllau du goranferthol, gyda chydraniad onglog yn ddigon uchel i ddatrys strwythurau ar raddfa maint event horizon y twll du. Ymysg y targedau arsylwadol y prosiect yw ddau dwll du gyda'r maint onglog mwyaf: M87* yng nghanol yr alaeth hirgylchol goranferthol Messier 87, a Sagittarius A * yng nghanol y Llwybr Llaethog. ^[4]
