User talk:Rexparry sydney~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Zambia district maps
[edit]Hello - and thank you for the corrections you pointed out on the Zambia district maps. I wanted to point out a few things to you for future reference... 1) it can be considered vandalism to put notes on the images as you have - instead, enter in a message on the talk/discussion page explaining the discrepancy or correction needed. This leads to 2) give the original image/map creator (like myself) time to go in and update the map himself - or leave a request on the creator's talk page (either here or the respective wiki, in my case, English wiki) - and that person may respond with the time needed to update the map. In my case, it usually takes a few days. Also please don't just 'replace' maps without consulting the original creator as well - it is inconsiderate to do so. If you intend to replace maps for articles in the future, try to either work with the creator or let them know your intentions (as you did on my talk page for the maps with district capitals, etc). If you need any help as far as mapping, I am always here to assist! Rarelibra 13:25, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Zambia historic map
[edit]You can generate the site map from lat/long coordinate points pretty easy within a GIS software - or even Google and Mappoint, I believe. If you need assistance with this, I can certainly help. If you don't want to create the map yourself, let me know and I will also help you with that. :) Rarelibra 12:49, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Please link images
[edit]
Hello Rexparry sydney~commonswiki!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. --Apalsola t • c 16:57, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
File:Map_of_Trans-African_Highways.PNG
[edit]Hello, I find your map of the so called Trans-African Highway system very useful, but I wonder if you are able to export and upload it as an svg, so that it can be translated into other languages? //Rotsee (talk) 13:17, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
File:Lagos_Map.PNG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Rexparry sydney. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Rexparry sydney~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
